LS Electric Takes a $138.5 Million Bloom Energy Order for 38 kV Gear at an Unnamed Pennsylvania Data Center

Key Facts
  • Contract value: $138.5 million
  • Equipment: 38-kilovolt switchgear and distribution transformers
  • Delivery window: April to July 2027
  • Cumulative LS Electric orders from Bloom since April 2025: more than $500 million

LS Electric has signed a $138.5 million contract with Bloom Energy to supply power distribution equipment for a data center in Pennsylvania. The South Korean manufacturer announced the deal on Oct. 13, 2026. The equipment will serve an on-site fuel-cell power project at a data center that a major technology company is building. LS Electric says its cumulative orders from Bloom Energy now exceed $500 million since April 2025.

What LS Electric Will Supply

The order covers 38-kilovolt high-voltage switchgear and distribution transformers. LS Electric will ship them as one integrated distribution package. Deliveries run from April to July 2027. DatacenterDynamics (DCD) puts the order at 185.3 billion won.

LS Electric builds its US business around a facility in Utah and its Bastrop Campus in Texas. An LS Electric official said the company will expand its presence in North America’s AI data centers.

Why It Matters

A data center that makes its own power with fuel cells still needs medium-voltage gear to collect that power and send it to the load. The fuel cells are only part of the purchase.

This order shows Bloom buying that gear as a package from one supplier. DCD reports an earlier order between the two firms. That contract was worth 319 billion won ($216.5 million) and was signed in April for a large data center project in New Mexico.

What the Announcement Does Not Say

Neither company named the site or the data center owner. DCD writes that the equipment is likely for Aligned Data Centers’ “Project Phoenix” campus in Shippingport, Pennsylvania. DCD also says this is not confirmed. At that campus, DCD expects Bloom to deploy up to 2GW of fuel cells behind the meter. No source gives a MW rating for the fuel-cell project that this order serves.

The deal count is also unclear. DCD calls this the second deal between the two firms. LS Electric says cumulative orders from Bloom Energy are more than $500 million since April 2025. The company does not list the orders behind that total. No source gives a price for each unit or a delivery site.

Critical Perspective

Neither company named the site, the owner or the size of the fuel-cell plant. DCD links the order to the Project Phoenix campus at Shippingport. It expects up to 2 GW of Bloom fuel cells there, but it also says that link is not confirmed. Without a MW rating, nobody outside the deal knows what $138.5 million buys per kW of output. The release also gives no count of switchgear lineups or transformers. Deliveries from April to July 2027 put the gear on site about 6 to 9 months after the Oct. 13 signing. An earlier $64 million LS Electric order for 38 kV-class switchgear had a similar window. That gear ships from December 2026 to August 2027 to a US AI data center that the coverage does not name. Bloom also supplies the 702 MW AEP fuel-cell plant for Google in Wyoming. That coverage names no supplier for its medium-voltage gear. The two Bloom orders that DCD reports add to $355 million. LS Electric puts its Bloom total above $500 million but does not list the rest. Which plants, and how many MW, does that $500 million serve?
